What is a rider (exclusionary rider)?

An amendment to an insurance policy; may include additional coverage or limitations on coverage. After September 2010, under the Affordable Care Act, exclusionary riders couldn’t be applied to coverage for children. Since 2014, no exclusionary riders have been permitted in major medical health insurance.
