What is coinsurance?

The percentage of out-of-pocket costs you’re responsible for for covered healthcare services after you’ve met the deductible amount. Your insurance company contributes toward covered services at the percentage up to the out of pocket maximum. Generally speaking, plans with lower monthly premiums have higher coinsurance.
